SVRTC members were well represented at the first meeting of the 2020-21 year. The meeting included 25 members from the following divisions: Amelia, Brunswick, Buckingham, Colonial Heights, Cumberland, Danville City, Franklin City, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Petersburg, Prince Edward, and Sussex. Members were eager to learn about zSpace Technology from Mr. Aron Fristoe with Bluegrass Educational Technologies. He explained how this technology combines Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality to engage students with real world content in a collaborative and interactive experience. In Mr. Fristoe’s presentation, members viewed a video of students dissecting a frog using zSpace Technology. The technology tracks the users eyewear and stylist in real time allowing the user to blowup an image, reach in, interact, move around and change different variables within the environment. He explained that zSpace has many uses: blended learning, teacher led instruction, and distance instruction. The screen can be shared between users. Programs included with the product are: Studio, Lepoloy Maker, Geogebra, Tinkercad and Unity. There are many other software choices available for each area of study. Mr. Friscoe showed members around the www.zspace.com website and pointed out where members can find useful information. He answered questions from members and shared his contact information a firstname.lastname@example.org or call 804-399-5282.
